Carl Sacklen     Freelance Portfolio     Blog

I’m a student at the University of Chicago and I’ve previously studied in London. At UChicago I plan to study Political Science and Public Policy with a focus on International Relations.

Here, I am a Data Research Assistant at the Chigago Project on Security and Threats, where I analyse recent terrorist attacks and update one of the world’s largest databases on the subject in order to produce scholarship with policy relevance in order to reduce security threats and enhance stability across the world. I also have a column about European politics and economics at The Gate, which is the university’s undergraduate political review.

My interest in global politics and economics has led me to write numerous pieces for popular national publications such as Huffington Post, The Independent, and CapX. I sometimes also write on my blog. You can see my portfolio here.

TalkPolitics is a group I co-founded with the aim of enhancing democracy. We publish articles to simplify politics and papers to suggest improvements to our democracy. From its beginings to March 2017 I was its editor-in-chief and I’m currently its Director of Research. We’ve been endorsed by many prominent indiviuduals in British politics.
